All About Giving Giving South Haven Area Senior Services is a not-for-profit organization that cares for those in need in Western Michigan. As the elderly population continues to grow at a time when State and Federal funding is limited it increases our need to bring in needed funds through a Fund Development program. All funds contributed to Senior Services go directly into programs and services.
The vast majority of those we serve are at, or below the Federal Poverty level and therefore have little left to contribute toward the services they need. Your gift can benefit those in need. It can help provide a hot meal to an elder, provide them a ride to get their medicine, help provide them with personal care they can no longer do themselves and give them an opportunity to visit with friends at the Senior Center instead of being alone in their home or apartment. Your gift is also tax deductible.
The Many Ways to Give There are many ways to give a gift and there are also many different types of gifts you can make. The most common is a cash gift; however, gifts may be given in the form of personal property, real estate, stocks and insurance policies. The giving of an appreciated asset can save the donor many dollars in taxes. If you are considering property gifts, charitable gift annuity or stocks and mutual funds, please contact us at 269-637-3607 and consult with your tax advisor or expert to see how this, or any contribution might affect your personal tax situation.
Outright Gifts – A gift can be made by cash, check or major credit card. These gifts are invaluable to Senior Services because they give the agency the ability to meet immediate demands as crucial needs arise. All gifts are recognized with an official tax receipt for your records and recognition is provided in our Annual Report.
Checks can be mailed to:
Memorial Gifts – Friends and relatives are welcome to make donations to Senior Services in memory of a friend or loved one. Gift cards are sent to the family of the individual being remembered and their names are placed on a Memory Plaque displayed at the Warren Senior Center.
Bequests – A bequest in a will provides a gift to Senior Services that will perpetuate your interest in the future of our organization and those we serve.
Property Gifts, Charitable Gift Annuity and Insurance policies – these are excellent contributions allowing donors tax benefits, in some cases guaranteed income for the rest of your life and provides funding for the future of this organization. For information on these giving opportunities call Senior Services at 269-637-3607.
