On April 18th, South Haven
Area Senior Services honored over sixty men and women who in 2005 made
life easier for many of the seniors in our community. Volunteers are the
lifeblood of our agency and it was to them we said a very special thank
you with a celebratory luncheon.
The Rev. Jeffrey Dick
provided the invocation; and a light lunch of salad and sandwiches was
prepared by Amelia’s Cooking. The South Haven High School Chorale
performed prior to a thank you message from SHASS Director Jennifer
Carver.
To end this delightful get
together, and while cake was being enjoyed a small gift was given to each
volunteer. There was also a drawing for gifts that were donated by area
businesses.
American Journalist Charles
Dudley Warner (1829-1900) said “It is one of the beautiful compensations
of this life that no one can sincerely try to help another without helping
himself”. That being said there are many souls in our area who are helping
themselves by helping others. Thank you to all who have served and thank
you to all of you who will help us in the year ahead.
